For
years the Cooper family has been hunting the great lands of the
South East. I, Dan Cooper, was born in the small town of Plant City,
Florida and raised in nearby Lithia. It was here in Lithia that I
would find my love for fishing and hunting. Lithia is in central
Florida within close proximity to some great hunting areas such as:
Ocala National Forest, Green Swamp, Kissimmee, Trenton and Chassahowitzka to name only a few. It was in these areas that my
son, Daniel and I began to cultivate our revolutionary hunting
blind. Florida has some of the best fishing and hunting in the world
and is home to such species as: wild boar, hog, whitetail, deer,
turkey, coyote, alligator, fox and rabbit. |

In 2004 I moved my family to the small town of Screven, Georgia
located just a few miles North of the Okefenokee Swamp. It was here
that the Chameleon began to take shape. On our small 230 acre
hunting lease Daniel and I spent our days studying the eating and
travel habits of the deer. We used all types of stands including:
Millennium, lock on stands, climber stands, Gorilla, Ameristep, Ol'
Man, buddy stands, tripods, Family Tradition, Equalizer, Gun
Slinger, Tree Lounger, Summit, Lone Wolf, Hunters View, Swivel Limb and Game Tamers. These stands were purchased at various |
|
|
locations such as
Bass Pro Shop, Cabelas, Gander Mountain, The Sportsman Guide,
Wal-Mart, Dick's Sporting Goods, Mill's Fleet Farm, Sports Authority
and Sportsmans Warehouse.
To me hunting is not
about killing a huge trophy buck but rather the wonderful time and
experience I get to share with my family in the great outdoors. But
one day while I was hunting in a new area, where I had found massive
amounts of deer sign, I got busted by the biggest buck I had ever
encountered. Because I had no cover, the huge deer looked up, saw me
in the climber, froze and then quickly turned |
|
and went in another direction. I was furious with the situation. The
buck of a lifetime had just got away. I knew I had to find some
cover for my stands. I new that what ever I purchased had to be
universal. Buying multiple blinds, one for each stand, was not
feasible. So after extensive research I had determined that there
were only a few manufactures of tree stand blinds, Lucky's, Double
Bull, Eastman and Ameristep. The problems with these blinds was:
price ($300+), they only fit one type of stand, tools and assembly
required, not enough concealment, not waterproof, poor camo patterns
and very heavy to carry around. It was at this point I had decided
to develop my own blind that could resolve all of these problems.
Thus The Chameleon Blind was born and in 2005 Cooper Hunting
Industries, Inc, a universal tree blind manufacture was founded. |
